Why the IPL Sponsorship bandwagon might be a fad

A road trip is like a glass of your favorite wine, that one white shirt that is your go-to piece, or that pair of jeans that fits perfectly- it’s a classic. You can never go wrong with a good road trip. With other holidays, your flights could get delayed, your luggage could get misplaced or the destination could end up being boring. But a road trip is like that one friend who is always there for you, and who always manages to cheer you up. With a road trip, the journey is as good as the destination. While it may seem like 2020 is the year when everything, absolutely every little thing is going wrong, road trips are still on your side! And when you live in a city like Bangalore, you have endless options for a road trip from Bangalore.

Unlike many other metro cities, Bangalore is surrounded by some incredible spots. Be it history, architecture, culture, wildlife, mountains, or ruins, there’s a place for everyone! You can rent a car and drive down to the destination of your choice. Since monsoon is still not over, you still have time to enjoy the lush greenery on rainy weekends, with your loved ones!

If you’re spoilt for choice regarding your road trip from Bangalore, fret not. Here are 3 beautiful ideas for your road trip from Bangalore!

For the nature enthusiast: Coorg

The region of Coorg, or the popular town of Madikeri, which is the tourist favorite in the region, is a great destination for a road trip from Bangalore. Since monsoon isn’t over and we can still expect some rains, you absolutely must consider driving down to Coorg with your loved ones. It’s roughly a 5-hour drive from Bangalore. Coorg is a nature lover’s paradise. From Abbey Falls and Raja’s Seat to sunrise at Mandalpatti, Coorg is rich in natural beauty. Wildlife lovers must make it a point to visit Dubbare Elephant Camp. Those interested in culture must pay a visit to the Namdroling Monastery in Bylakuppe and enjoy delicious Tibetan food nearby.

Coorg is also a coffee lover’s paradise so you must absolutely visit a coffee estate and experience a coffee tasting and tour while you’re there. While in Coorg, make it a point to try the pork curry, the beetroot curries for vegetarians, and the famous string hoppers!

For the history and architecture lover: Hampi

If architectural marvels make you go crazy, Hampi is the place for you. While it is somewhat of a long drive from Bangalore, the 6-7 hour road trip is completely worth it. The closest town to Hampi is Hospet. From Hospet, you can hop on a coracle ride to the backpacker side. If the coracle ride over the Tungabhadra river wasn’t enough to entice you, the hippie town definitely will. Hampi houses the ruins of the Vijayanagara empire. The magnificent temples, paddy fields, and the vibe of the place make it irresistible.

You could go bouldering in the hippie town, swim in the river, explore the ruins or rent a moped and explore the town at your own pace. Hampi is also extremely budget-friendly so you know this experience will enrich you without burning a hole in your pocket!

For those seeking offbeat experiences: Kabini

If you want to escape touristy viewpoints and overexplored spots, you must think of Kabini for your road trip from Bangalore. During the months of September and October, the entire region surrounded by the Kabini river will be extremely green and hence, ideal for your holiday. Not only is the place visually pleasing, but it also has a bunch of things to do! Kabini has a lot of boutique Airbnbs, hotels, and homestays for you to choose from.

While in Kabini, you could go for an elephant safari, explore the Western Ghats by going on impromptu hikes, go birdwatching in the Kabini Wildlife Sanctuary, or go cycling! Or you could choose to do nothing at all and just relax in the lapse of nature.

Which of these places are you heading to for your road trip from Bangalore?
